Potty training day 1

One day down two to go. Ugh I'm exhausted to say the least. Today has been intense, but I am thrilled with the progress Livi is making. After breakfast I took off her final diaper and put her in big girl panties. Grabbed the remaining diapers we had left and I held a garbage bag out for her to throw them all away. While doing this she tells me 'diapers are for babies' 15 minutes after putting her in the panties I went into the bathroom explained the potty chart I made her and had her sit on the 'big potty' figured if I'm going to train her it's not going to be on her princess potty she'll eventually need to use the big one. I gave her tons of apple juice and water today so she'd have to pee a lot. We had one successful pee on the potty which I was excited about. The rest of the time she would look at me, sheer panic in her eyes and say 'umm mommy' then the pee would start trickling down her legs. I scooped her up and immediately took her to the potty and had her sit on it even if she was done. Nap time came around and I put her down in her panties. Went to wake her up and right as I walked in the door she let me know she just peed the bed.
Even though she only peed technically once on the potty I think today went pretty well. She is no longer afraid of the 'big potty' like she was before, she's getting better at telling me when she has to go even if it's a few seconds to late. Livi asked for her diapers a few times today and I reminded her that we threw them away and she had to wear her big girl panties now. However tonight I wasn't so daring I did put her to bed in a pull up. Figure night time I will do that until she can go a good length of time waking up completely dry in the morning. We went through 7 pairs of panties today, 3 t-shirts a set of sheets and one of her 'special blankies' we watched 4 dvds through out the day. Played with play dough and colored. I really think she enjoyed all the one on one attention she was getting. Poor little Ian however was in his bouncy seat or swing most the day. Matt has a horrible cold right now so he's trying to avoid spending lots of time around us so he wasn't any help. I hope he gets better soon and we better not get sick! Well I'll update again tomorrow on how day 2 went. Play dough and apple juice
Watching the Chimpmunks her favorite!

Memorial day weekend

I hope she can be. The remainder of my Memorial Day weekend will be spent potty training Alivia. Starting tomorrow morning we'll be throwing the diapers out and getting the potty training under way. I have Sunday and Monday off and don't work until 3pm on Tuesday so until I leave for work we'll be stuck in the house. The Ebook I have says you have to stay home the three days if you want to be successful. Bought everything on the list today that we'll need:

*20+ pairs of panties
* flushable wipes
*apple juice
*popsicles
*rewards
and a few other little things. Got some pretty decorative paper and stickers to make a potty chart, new crayons and activity books and some play dough to keep us entertained over the next few days. I gave Livi some of the play dough this afternoon and she's really enjoying playing with it. I don't know why I didn't think to get her any sooner.
I'm hoping I have the patience for this wish me luck I will update tomorrow on how potty training day #1 went.

Puddle jumper

Last night on our way back to the car from Disco kids Livi enjoyed jumping in the puddles next to our car. It's been raining all week and the forecast for next week is saying rain as well. I want the beautiful sunshine back it's feeling like fall around here with this cold, wet weather.

Disco Kids

Took Livi to Disco Kids tonight. This month the theme was cowboy/cowgirls. I was on a mission all week to find her cowboy boots to go with the outfit I had plan for her. My last resort was to check Walmart for cowboy boot (try to avoid that place at all costs. I maybe go there 3 times a year. I'm a Target girl) I was in the shoe section and they had one pair of black cowboy boots in her size and on sale for $7. I was excited to have her outfit complete. I went to get her dressed tonight she wont wear any of it. The cowboy boots are 'scary' according to her, the hat is a no go and the bandanna she doesn't want around her neck. Ugh... I brought the hat in hopes she'd wear it and she did for a few minutes, but that was it. This month they brought in a bubble machine it was a huge hit with all the kids they loved it! Right before we left the Chipmunks version of Beyonce's 'Single Ladies' Came on and Livi loves that song. She was belting out the lyrics to the song and dancing all over the place. I was kicking myself for not bringing my video camera it was the funniest thing ever!
Next month the theme is Pirates/Princesses Livi was a pirate for Halloween this last year so I'm hoping I can get her into the costume.

Shrek Forever After

Matt has last night off so we decided to take Livi to her first movie at the theater. My parent's were awesome and took Ian for the evening. We went to see Shrek Forever After. Got to the theater a little early so we'd be able to get situated in the theater before it was too dark in there. Got a tub of popcorn, some candy and a drink figured that'd keep her seated since she loves popcorn. We walked in and were the only people there. I was hoping it would stay this way but a few minutes before it started two other groups of people came in. Livi was great through the previews and first hour of the movie but when the goodies were almost gone she was ready to go. So we bailed with half hour left of the movie. She wanted to go shopping at Target (my daughter totally haha) If the other groups of people weren't there we would have just let her run around burn off some of that sugar and we'd finish the movie. Livi did a lot better then I thought she would. She did talk loudly during parts and we had to remind her to whisper which was to be expected. I think in a year she'll be the perfect age to sit through a movie. We may brave it in a few weeks and take her again to see Toy Story 3. She's really into Toy Story right now so maybe we'd have better luck with that one. Maybe do a matinee that time around.

Cartoon Twin

Ever since Ian was born Matt has said he looks a lot like Bobby from King of the hill. We were watching it tonight and I have to agree. What do you think?

3 day potty training

Well Lora, I am going to try your approach starting on Thursday and hopefully it will work for us.
I came across the 3 day potty training E-book on one of the mommy message boards I visit often. Figured since none of my tactics really worked I'd give this a try since the success rates on the message boards have been huge! I've only read half of the literature so far and already I'm picking up on tons of things I was doing wrong with my own potty training techniques. The only thing I think is going to be hard about this is the fact I can't go anywhere for three days. I hate being cooped up in my house so this is going to be hard on me. So with the weather looking like it's going to be bad all week figure better do this now before it gets nice again and I'm sick of buying Livi diapers, which I have to do tomorrow blah... just getting a small pack to last us until Thursday. I was going to go to a photography get together Friday morning just down the road from my house but I will have to bail (Sorry Keren) So if all goes well by this time next week I should have Alivia potty trained. Fingers crossed!
****Well darn it already realized can't do it this weekend we have stuff going on Friday that requires leaving the house next week it is ugh.... I'd start earlier in the week but with work it wont work out. Eventually we'll get her potty trained just not this week, but I will use this method :)

Baby filled weekend

It's been a baby weekend around here. On Friday my friend and co-worker, Emily had her third baby girl, Miss. Fallon Violet. She is a beautiful baby and let me tell you I have never seen so much hair of a baby before. Emily will have her in pigtails by the end of summer I'm sure of it. After work on Saturday I had an hour to kill before going to a baby shower so I stopped by Enumclaw hospital to meet Fallon. She was only 5 ounces smaller then Ian when he was born and she seemed so tiny to me. Crazy to think my little man was almost that little only 11 weeks ago. He looks gigantic next to her!
The babies and I (Ian slept through the whole visit) I think the two of them will be good friends!

Look at all that hair!

After my visit at the hospital I drove across the street for my friend, April's baby shower. This was her fourth baby and her first girl. Little Jenna was 8 days old and just so precious. It was nice to see April and catch up with a bunch of the members of the church Matt and I used to attend.

April, Jenna, Ian and myself

Then this afternoon Ian and I went to my good friend, Susan's baby shower. She's expecting her first a surprise in three short weeks. There were several others I went to high school with at her shower so it was nice to catch up with everyone and see some new babies. I think Susan is having a boy, can't wait to find out if I'm right.

No entry would be complete without a photo of Miss. Livi

Back to the doctors

Last night I went to the movies with my friend, Arlene and during the movie Matt text me and told me Livi's eye was swollen and had eye goobers. I was annoyed considering we were just at the doctor not even 6 hours earlier and he said she looked perfect. I was about to walk out the door to go to work this morning, but Livi woke up and I went into her room to kiss her goodbye. I walked in and her eye was extremely swollen. I called my mom told her I'd have to take Livi to the pediatrician and might not make it to work. Only the convenience care clinic was open and was walk in appointments only. They opened at 9am so I got Livi dressed really quick and got up there a few minutes after they opened. Already there were like 10 people in line before us. Got Livi checked in and was thrilled to find out her pediatrician was the one working. The nurse took us back to an exam room and we waited a few minutes for Dr. Schoos to come in and as soon as he did Livi put both her little hands on her cheeks and yelled 'Ohh no' it was priceless. She's so dramatic it's hilarious. She had issues yesterday with him examining her so I think she thought it was going to be the same again. She sat on my lap while he looked at her eyes and checked her ears back out, and thankfully she warmed up to him and didn't throw a fit this time around. Turns out my little booger got pink eye...ugh annoying he said she probably got it from being at the office yesterday. So she's getting eye drops 4 times a day for the next 5 days.
It was a beautiful day today and Matt had the night off so after Livi's afternoon nap (and mine as well hehe) we decided to go up to Mud Mountain Dam have a picnic, let Livi blow bubbles and enjoy the sunshine. (Don't worry she wasn't around any kids with her pink eye) After we left Matt ran in to Target real quick and bought Livi Toy Story 2 on blu-ray so we ended our night eating Chinese food and watching the new movie. I love days when we can spend all day as a family.

Kids check up's

Both kiddos had check ups this afternoon. Livi was so excited about going to the doctors until we got back into the exam room then she started to freak out.

Livi's 2 1/2 year stats
Weight 38 lbs
Height 39 1/2"
Alivia is over the 95th percentile in both her height and weight. Dr. Schoos estimates her full grown height at six foot 2 inches. I hope she's not that tall, but we'll see. We held off getting Livi's MMR vaccine for a while so today I finally gave in and she got it. It took me and the nurse to pin her on to the table so she could get the shot.
Ian's 2 month stats
Weight 14 lbs 9 oz
Height 24 1/2"
head circumference 15 1/4"
Ian is at the 75th-90th percentile for his height and over 90th percent for her weight. He had to get 2 vaccines and an oral vaccine.
Both kids got a clean bill of health which always makes us happy knowing they are healthy and growing properly.
