Welcome to the world Ian!

Well the Wi-Fi in the labor and delivery room didn't have great connection so I wasn't able to keep everyone updated during our induction. I kept track though on my cell and took notes so I could recap it for everyone that wanted to know. Matt's out shopping with Livi and Ian is sleeping so I have some down time and figured I'd post the info and photos of my little guy.

March 5th 2010

Finally at 8:44am got a call from the hospital telling us to come on in. I had just fallen back to sleep (finally) and woke up in a sheer panic and yelled at Matt to hurry up and get in the shower. We got out of the house and on the road by 9:15am and got to the hospital around 9:35am. Got checked in and wheeled down to the labor and delivery room. I had a fabulous nurse when we got there, she got me all hooked up to the monitors and I had my IV started at 10:30am. I hate getting IV's and that's the part I dreaded most going into the induction. I told my nurse and she told me if I would like she could numb the area first before sticking it in. I answered yes and let me tell you besides a tiny little pinch I felt nothing it was wonderful! 10:45am I was checked I was still 3 cms dilated, not much had changed from the day before. Pitocin was started to start making me contract. From then until about 1pm Matt and I relaxed and watched a DVD I had little contractions but nothing to bad. A little after 1pm Dr. Michaelson came in and broke my water was checked again and was at 4 1/2 cms. Pitcoin was up'd some more to get things really going. About 2:30pm contractions were coming every 3 minutes and were starting to hurt. We were waiting on the anesthesiologist because she was on lunch but at 3pm she walked on in and by 3:40pm I was nice and numb. Got checked after the epidural and was at 6 cms. Called my friend, Keren to let her know to come to the hospital because she was going to photograph Ian's birth us. She arrived shortly after and we sat around talking. Ian's heart rate started dropping and the nurse had me flip on my stomach guess my little man was facing sunny side up and by having me lay on my stomach would get him to hopefully flip face down. It was so uncomfortable let me tell you I felt tons of pressure while laying like this and after 15 minutes my nurse had me flip on my back again. She checked me I was at 9cms and Ian had flipped to where he needed to be and his heart rate picked back up. At 6:20pm I was checked one final time and was 10 cms and it was time to start to push. I did a practice one and she paged Dr. Michaelson to head on down. I pushed for a good 15 minutes and at 6:41pm my little guy was born my OB even let grab him after his shoulders were delivered and pull him onto my chest. It was such an over whelming experience I couldn't stop crying. Due to Ian being sunny side up for so long his poor little face was so bruised and his left arm as well. He was 9 lbs 1 oz and 20.5" long
My OB came in Saturday morning and asked if I wanted to leave Saturday or wait until Sunday. Matt and I agreed if the pediatrician cleared Ian that we'd leave Saturday. The pediatrcian gave him a clean bill of health and we were discharged at 5:30pm. It was so nice going home I'm so glad I didn't have to stay another night. I missed Livi so much and wanted to sleep in my bed. Livi threw a minor fit when my parents dropped her off last night, but she got over it quickly. She's adjusting well to her brother. Ian slept last night for 4 hours straight ate then fell back asleep for another 2 1/2 hours. Our first night home went easier then I thought it would.
Well here's what you're all waiting for photos of my little guy enjoy!

The waiting game

The hospital gave me a span of 7 hours in which they'd call and tell me to come in to start the induction. I am getting very impatient right now and feel like I can pull all my hair out. I feel like I've been playing a waiting game since 3 am this morning (insert Jeopardy theme song that's stuck in my head). I have gotten maybe 2 hours of sleep and I am super cranky! I finally almost fell back to sleep sometime between 4:30-5am only to be woken my my cell phone going off with calls and texts. Tossed and turned for another hour decided to give up and get ready. Around 7am tried to get Matt to wake up and get ready so when we get the call we can head right out the door, but no....he wants to sleep more. So I decided to go to Starbucks get a coffee and a chonga bagel in hopes that would put me in a better mood. Walked outside and the windows to the car were frozen, then I was extremely annoyed but wanted my coffee so I scrapped away at the ice and off I went. Now here I am venting because I'm so aggravated right now and I miss Livi I just want to get this induction going. Hopefully the next time I post it will be from labor and delivery :)

One more day

Tomorrow is finally the big day! Little Ian will be here and I couldn't be more excited to meet him and kiss his cheeks. Had my OB appt today to start my induction out. Since I dilated more since my appt on Tuesday my OB decided against putting the Foley catheter in said if he would there's no doubt in his mind I would've delivered tonight. I was all for it, but trust his judgment on everything. So tomorrow we just wait for the hospital to call us and we show up. My OB will come in break my water and start the pitocin. He thinks things will progress real quick and I should have a short labor (fingers crossed I hope he's right) As long as the Wi-Fi at the hospital is working out right I plan on updating the b log with everything that's going on throughout the whole induction process and will post photos of baby Ian as soon as I can.
Seems so weird that tomorrow we'll finally be a family of four. Kind of gets me teary eyed when I think Livi wont be an only child anymore. We took her up to the mall today before my appt. to let her run around the play area and bought her some new toys spoiled her a bit. My parents will be taking Livi tonight because we don't know what time we'll get called into the hospital. So after dropping her off Matt and I plan on going out to dinner and just relaxing getting everything ready for tomorrow. I ask if everyone can keep us in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow that everything goes smoothly and Ian is healthy. Looking forward to sharing our newest addition with you all

False alarm :(

Well we had an exciting evening to say the least. Matt, Livi and I had dinner and watched 2012. After the movie Livi asked Matt to spin her around in circles so he did and got her good and dizzy. She was so dizzy when he put her down I thought she was having trouble breathing because she was laughing so hard. I feel to my knees on the ground to make sure she was alright. When I hit the ground I felt a bit of a gush and after making sure she was alright went to the bathroom to check things out. A little more of a trickle when ever I would cough. So I called the hospital thinking alright maybe my water broke. They told me to lay down for 20 mins and see if I get a larger gush of fluid. So I'm about to lay down and before doing so call my mom to give her the heads up that she may need to get Livi. While talking with her I felt a large gush and was like ohh yea this is it. So we're frantically running around the house I call the hospital back and they told me to come in about an hour. Matt's getting Livi ready, I hop in the shower and throw last minute items into our bags. Then realize Matt had a few beers this evening so he can't drive us to the hospital and I didn't want to. Called Erin and she said she'd take us and arrived shortly after. My mom and Shea arrive to get Livi and the dog as I'm still running crazy around the house and it hit me I need to get Liv's car seat in my mom's car so I run out there and do that. The whole situation was just insane.

So we arrive to the hospital and I get checked in and wheeled down to labor and delivery. Get dressed in a gown and the nurse came into check me. My water did not break unfortunately so she does an exam and my cervix was dilated to 3cms and this morning it was only at 1cm. So there was so process and little contractions going on. She hooked me up to the monitors and said she's re check me in an hour and see if things progress at all. Hour passes still the same, she calls my OB he says to keep me one more hour and still no more progress so now I'm back at home and feel really embarrassed and stupid at the fact I thought my water broke and it didn't.

Family of 4 come Friday

Well we will officially be a family of four on Friday! I had an OB appt this afternoon and my OB is inducing me Friday morning. He asked me when I'd like to do it and I told him as soon as the hospital could fit me in. Since I'm not 39 weeks yet and he can legally only induce me a week early I have to wait until Friday. This induction is going to be different then mine was with Livi. When I had her I showed up to the hospital got and IV they started pitocin to start my contractions and my OB broke my water. This time around I go in to his office on Thursday and they'll put a Foley catheter in and leave it in place by my cervix until I go to the hospital Friday morning. The catheter will help thin my cervix out and dilated me over night before the induction takes place. He'll break my water once I arrive at the hospital and get the pitocin going. He told me doing the induction with the catheter will speed the whole process up. The hospital will call me sometime between 4am and 11am to inform me when they have a room open on Friday. Since I'll already have the catheter in place he said there's no way I will get bumped off the induction list for the day. Wow in three days we're going to have two kids!

Sickness Round 2

Poor Livi woke up this morning at 3am screaming for me as she was throwing up. Matt and I cleaned her and her bad up and set her up on the couch with some water. She threw up about 4 times total within the hour and then she got a fever. At 6am we laid her down and I went back to bed and got up around 10am. She still has the fever so we're treating it with lots of love and Tylenol hopefully it's only a 24 hour bug. In October we battled the same type of thing for 24 hours. So with all my complaining about wanting Ian to be here already or show up early I'm glad he's not here yet and that we'll hopefully get this bug out of the way before he arrives. Fingers crossed Matt or I don't get it as well.
Matt took the front of Livi's crib off yesterday, she still hasn't figured out how to climb out so we figured why switch her into a toddler bed if she stays put. Well happy to say she's asleep right now in her toddler bed pretty easy transition.
