Baby on the way

9 weeks Sept. 6th

My sister, Shealun and her fiance, Roger are expecting their first baby! We all found out in August, but kept is quiet until today. I couldn' t be more thrilled for them. Baby is due April 11th 2013. Shea is 17 weeks along now and is starting to get a cute bump. This pregnancy was a shocker, they had been trying to get pregnant for close to two years and were told they wouldn't be able to without fertility drugs. Well surprise, drugs weren't needed. In a few short weeks they'll find out what the baby's gender is. I think the little bean, is a girl. Livi does as well. She thinks her new cousin is a girl and she should be named Sprocket. Shea's not to fond of Livi's choice in baby names.

Caramel corn

Matt had Thursday night off so we told the kiddos we'd make caramel corn. Livi was so excited about it and was such a big help. Gidian loved watching all the popcorn pop out of the maker. He kept trying to grab it as it was coming out.
I just love this time of year, all the leaves changing colors and falling, pumpkins, fall scents. Our 80+ days of sunshine have finally ended and the rain has moved back in. We're expecting our first fall storm tonight. I have to admit even though I love fall, I like it a whole lot better in the sunshine.

Spooner's Farm

Matt had last night off so after Livi went to school today we all went to lunch then to our favorite pumpkin patch. We haven't had really any rain since the end of July (crazy for Washington) it was very dusty at the patch, but I was glad it wasn't muddy. I am not a fan of sloshing through the mud while picking out pumpkins. The kids had fun choosing what pumpkins they wanted and checking out all the patch had to offer. It was so nice being able to get our and have a fun family day.

Tooth Fairy made a visit

Miss. Livi lost her first tooth on Thursday afternoon. The tooth had been really wiggly for a few weeks and I knew it would be a matter of time before it fell out. She was eating lunch when it fell out, and she swallowed it. Livi was so upset that she wouldn't have a tooth to leave under her pillow, so I told her we'd leave the tooth fairy a note under her pillow explaining what had happened.
That night at dinner Livi was talking about the tooth fairy visiting and I told her she should clean her room so the fairy wouldn't trip over anything. (Her room looked like a bomb blew up in there) She sat quietly for a moment and then said 'The tooth fairy has wings, she can fly' Seriously? Go clean your room anyway silly girl.

Hair cut

Our boy was in need of a haircut. The last time I cut his hair was back in the beginning of April. I thought it was kinds of cute long, but seeing it short and in his faux hawk again, I realize he looks adorable with it short.
From the time Gidian was 6 months old he was getting hair cuts every six weeks or so and he never seemed to mind them. This time man, he was ticked. Even the sucker and snacks I brought him wouldn't satisfy him. Thankfully no clients were in there because he was screaming and I basically had him in a little head lock to shave the sides of his head. (I can do that to my own kid, but I admit I wish I could do it to other unruly kids when they are in my chair at times...) We finally got done and he was happy as can be and said 'Mom my hair is real cool' gosh that little boy melts my heart.

Convenience care

Over the last 6 weeks we have been on and off sick. The kids and I anyway, Matt seems to be avoiding it (not fair). Livi and I both have had a cough for quite a while now. Last night and this morning before she went to school she sounded horrible. I called our pediatrician office and they couldn't get her in until Friday. So after I picked her up at school we went to the convenience care clinic our pediatrician office has up in Puyallup. It's a walk-in clinic that sees both kids and adults. I figured I might as well get checked out too. I was told it would be an hour wait. I should have left then. The hour wait turned into 2 1/2 hours before we were even seen by the doctor. Then after she came into the exam room she got called out again for another ten minutes. I picked Livi up at 11:45 am and we went straight there. We got home at 3:50pm. Both the kids were hungry and cranky and I was an hour late to work. Livi is fine, the doctor says her lungs are clear and the cough should go away on it's own. Since I have had the cough going on 6 weeks I got put on a antibiotic so hopefully it'll kick it out of my system.

ABC Club

Last Tuesday when I picked Livi up at school she handed me a outstanding student certificate she has got. She was able to name all capital and lower case letters. Didn't really surprise me, because she's been able to do that since she was two. I asked her if everyone in the class got one. Livi said only she did. I really didn't believe that she was the only one so far, but in her weekly newsletter there was a congratulations for her. She told me she was the first one in the class to join the ABC Club. Matt and I both gave each other a big 'ol high-five.
