Black out

On Thursday morning I woke to a text from Matt informing me that his work had lost power. Not two minutes after responding to him our power went out at our house. On Wednesday night we had lots of freezing rain in our area which caused all the trees to break on to the power lines. I do not know how everyone way back when survived without power. By early afternoon on Thursday I was going insane. As the hours ticked by and the house got colder and darker I was crossing my fingers for power. I couldn't watch the news or access the Internet so I didn't have a clue as to how bad it was everywhere. Just after 8 pm the house was down to 56 degrees and my dad text me with the greatest news. The generator they have that had been broken for years was working. It took him and Roger a few hours and a flash light to get it running. I was so grateful, packed the kids and dog up and walked next door. It was nice a toasty when we got there. We kept the generator going until around 11 pm and turned it off for the night.
To make a long story short we finally got power today after over 80 hours. It was the longest 80 hours of my life. We were told on Saturday that we might not get power until late Tuesday evening. So glad that wasn't true. When I walked into our house this morning to get more clothes it was 42 degrees, Brrr!

Snow day

Today was a snow day for everyone in my family. We got about 8" of snow in the last few days. Last night was suppose to be a huge storm, it was worse further South, but still bad enough for us to shut the salon down for the day. Livi and I went over to my parents and got everyone together to make a snowman, well snow lady in our case. Our snow lady had curves, boobs an alien head was rocking a bikini in the freezing weather. We had a good time putting her together, lots of laughs that's for sure. Once she was complete we ran to the neighbors and borrowed the sled they had in their yard so we could pull Livi around. She was having a blast until Roger went around a corner and she went flying off. My sister convinced her to get back on. I went in and grabbed Gidian to see if he'd actually come outside and he let me put him in his snow gear without a fight this time. Once we got him out there he loved it. My dad pulled both kids around on the sled then they both enjoyed splashing in the slush puddles. It was such a fun day at home with the kiddos.

Snow

Yesterday snow fell in our new of the woods. I was beginning to think we weren't going to get any this winter. Sounds like we can get up to 8 inches by Tuesday. After breakfast this morning I got Livi ready to go play. Gidian wasn't having it. I tried to get him in his snow suit and he had a melt down so he stayed inside with daddy. Livi and I went over to my parents and played in their yard with Grammy and the dogs. Came home warmed up with some hot chocolate and Livi's friend, Jaidan came over. We watched her for the afternoon while her mommy and my brother went to the gym. Once they got back it was time to head back into the snow. Kyle helped the girls make a snow man and they had a snow ball fight. Took lots of bribery to get Livi to come in. She would have stayed outside all day if I would have let her.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year (ten days late) Hope you all had a great New years eve/day. We spent a low key New years eve at home. Matt had to work at 9:30 pm so we all rung in the New Year with the East coast. He went to work and the kids and I went to bed.

I apologise for not updating more regular, but it's kind of a pain. My laptop stopped working so in order to update I have to go to our desk top with is hooked up to our TV as a monitor so I can't really use it when the kids are awake. Then I update from there, but I can never submit the entries off blogger for some reason so I have to get on my cell phone and submit it from there. So basically a big pain in the butt.

Christmas morning

The kids were so worn out from all the fun last night, we had to wake them up with morning. They both had a blast tearing through all their presents. Must say my kiddos were spoiled this year. Half the presents I had a hard time remembering what was under the wrapping paper because I had gotten the gifts over the last couple months and wrapped them right away. Gidian got the Little People Zoo talkers play set and the Safari truck that went along with it as his 'big' gift. Livi really wanted a Wrecking ball figure for her Skylander's game. The package for those are kind of small so we wrapped it in a big box and labled it from Santa. We had her save that present for last. She was so emotional becuase she though Santa didn't bring it for her. The look on her face though when she saw it was priceless. She was so excited. We got it on videotape and I will try to load it in the next couple days. Livi also wanted the Lalaloopsy silly hair doll, which took me a while to hunt down.
Once presents were unwrapped at our house we had an hour of down time before going to my parents for more gifts and breakfast. We always do breakfast burritos on Christmas morning they were so yummy. My brother was originally suppose to work at 8am this morning so we thought he was going to miss out, but they told him to come in at 11 am. We were all glad he was able to spend sometime with us this morning. My parents got Livi a V-Tech V-Reader and some books that go with it. Then Gidian got a Little Tikes work bench. Which was a huge hit with both the kids. After everything was unwrapped we went home for the afternoon so the kids could play with their new toys. Gidian and I took a long nap together while Livi and Matt played some games. It was a perfect Christmas morning.

Christmas Eve

I was thrilled I had gotten all my shopping out of the way before Christmas Eve. I believe this is the first year I wasn't out amongst all the last minute shoppers and I was glad. I did go out on Friday to pick up a few little things and get groceries for my mom. I went to two stores and it took me almost 4 hours because of all the people. So happy it was just me and I didn't have the kids along.
Christmas Eve we spent over at my folks house. My dad made a Tri-tip and we had tons of yummy sides and three different pies for dessert. The kids opened gifts from Shealun and Roger that evening too keep them entertained while the adults gabbed. Livi got a V-Tech Brilliant advanced learning computer. (She got it for $50 at Target and I found it on Target.com for half price so we took it back. Can't beat a good deal) then they got Gidian a Little people fire truck with mega blocks. When we got home the kids opened their usual Christmas eve gift from Matt and I, their Christmas jammies. Livi set out chocolate toffee cookies her and Matt had made and a glass of egg nog for Santa. She has been anticipating Christmas for quite a while and we thought she'd be up late into the night, but she was out quick.
